Several studies have also linked the consumption of THC delta-9 to an increased risk of psychosis, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and other psychiatric conditions, in addition to substance abuse disorders. There is extensive research-based evidence that THC is associated with an increased risk of psychosis, both in adolescents and adults. It is also related to increased anxiety, learning problems and a decrease in memory formation. The CDC states that the health effects of delta-8 THC have not yet been thoroughly researched and are not well understood.
However, THC delta-8 is psychoactive and may have similar risks of deterioration to those of THC delta-9.Therefore, products that contain delta-8 THC but are labeled only with the delta-9 content rather than with the total THC content are likely to underestimate the psychoactive potential of these products for consumers. In addition, delta-8 THC products are sold by a wide range of companies that sell hemp and can therefore be confused with hemp or CBD products that are not intoxicating. Therefore, consumers who use these products may experience unexpected or increasing THC poisoning.
